Prince William is in Windsor?

Hey everyone, how's life?

So Windsor has been warming up lately, which is good, but it's still pretty cold. Especially when it's windy. The wind is a killer.
So what has happened this week? Hmmmmm... I met the Whiteheads, a family here in Windsor who are originally from Lethbridge and used to be in my cousin's ward. Brother Whitehead is here for dental school, but then is headed back to Alberta once he's finished his degree. We also had leadership training, which was uneventful, but they usually are and most of us know that I dislike meetings. I got to go to Sarnia for a night, which was uneventful because our appointments canceled for the night. Elder Christensen's hand is still broken, which I'm sure he doesn't enjoy, but we like making fun of him.
Elder Wright thought Elder Laceste was Spanish, but since he's Filipino, I told Elder Wright that he's Asian. We couldn't agree, so we called him up and asked him. He's Asian(Filipino), which Elder Wright is still baffled about. He doesn't get out much. He's never even seen the Star Wars movies! It's quite upsetting that he hasn't seen very many movies, since we can't quote them back and forth like Elder Bindrup and I. Oh well, he's still a pretty happy kid.
One of our investigators dropped us recently and we got a new one, but she's not that committed.
Oh! St. Patty's was a few days ago... You should have seen downtown. So many drunk people, and this was before 5! It was quite entertaining, but Elder Wright wanted to go in early, so we didn't get to spend that much time outside, which was upsetting because I found it entertaining outside. Basically we went in because we wouldn't get anything accomplished, but all we did inside was, nothing. Just sat around and such. We did a little planning, but that didn't take long.
So I've been told countless times on my mission that I look like Prince William. I don't know, but I was told it at least 8 times in the past week. You be the judge.

Anyways, that's all for this week. Peace out!

Nurse/Chauffeur Elder Stubbs

Hey everyone, how's life?

So my past week has been a little different than usual. It started last Monday after emails when we went to go play basketball with the other missionaries in Windsor. Elder Wright was passing the ball and it nailed Elder Christensen's finger. He was in a lot of pain and he couldn't move his finger. Their ward mission leader was there and looked at his pinky and said it's just sprained since there was no discoloration. Later that evening, we learned that not only was his pinky broken, but that a good part of his hand was broken too. So we spent a great deal of time last week in hospitals and clinics for many, many hours waiting in looooooooong lines. He got placed in a cast and was given Tylenol 3 for the pain. Since Elder Christensen's companion can't drive, I got to spend three days with him driving him around to his appointments and such, on times we actually went out. We stayed in a lot because E. Christensen was too busy riding the technicolor dreamscape with Puff the Magic Dragon. He felt terrible for having to stay in and felt like he was a bad missionary. I told him to get over it and his well being comes first. He was in no condition to drive or be walking around all day. He finally decided to stop taking the pills and he's only taken half of them. Whatever. I can't force him to take them. Anyways, this week involved a lot of sitting around and waiting, but hey, you do what you gotta do.

Yesterday at church was interesting too. A quarter of the people who came were investigators. Of course, there were only a total of 20 in attendance, but numbers don't matter. It sounds a lot more impressive to say that a quarter of our ward are investigators. Next week may be better because not all of our investigators came out this week. We'll see what the future holds for us. Missionary work with this branch is challenging. Literally only 3 members are willing to give rides or come to appointments with us. Out of those three, one of them is constantly working, so he can't help as much as he wants. This ward is struggling and only 15 of them show up regularly.

On the positive side, all our investigators are fine and we picked up a new one named Amy. We'll see how she turns out.

Anyways that's it for today. Peace!

The High Life in Windsor

Hey everyone, how's tricks?

So I'm in Windsor now, living the high life in the penthouse. Jealous? I thought so. Unfortunately, it looks out onto Windsor and not Detroit. Oh well. The penthouse is pretty nice and quite roomy so I enjoy it. Too bad it doesn't have floor to ceiling windows. That's what I really wanted.

Now Windsor itself is a really dirty place. There's trash and crazy people everywhereand it's filled with bars, strip clubs and brothels. Ridiculous, huh? One Brothel beside our building just burned down before I got here. Elders Wright and Mazzaferro got to see it though, the lucky dogs. And the names for these places! There's the 'Baby Tavern' the 'Angry Spider' and the 'Bearded Clam'. Those are some of the milder names.

My new companion is Elder Wright and even though he's a Utah kid, I enjoy his company. He's known as Happy Wright out here and he lives up to that name. He's literally always happy. I thought I would have to do something about that when I got here, but it's actually quite enjoyable. He's a good guy, so I have no quarrels with him (yet).

As for the missionary work here, we have 4 investigators currently and two less-active members we have been working with.
The investigators are: Kirk (who would have been baptized already, but wants to meet with President Brower first, who can't meet him until the 15th), Jenny (about 23), Monique ( married) and Gaston (dude from... Southern Africa, I think). Then we are teaching Jen, who is less-active and looks a lot like Helena Bonham Carter. She's pretty cool.

Now the branch. It's more like a twig. On average out of over 200 people, 21 usually show (that includes investigators and less-actives we are teaching). Pretty sad huh? And out of those who do attend, maybe 6 are willing to help out with the missionary work. The Branch President is pretty cool. His name is President Mafolo. He's African too. I like him a lot.

So that's what's up here. Not much else to tell, except this is an interesting place. No wonder people call it 'The Armpit'.

Anyways, have a great week and enjoy the last few days of Winter!
