2 Months in the Field

What's up?

So I was just thinking about how long I've been out here, and turns out this Wednesday will mark my eight week (2 month) anniversary since leaving home and entering the MTC! Crazy, huh? It's been going well this week, and we've gotten a lot accomplished. Monday we got to go to Niagara Falls, which was pretty cool, except they looked bigger on tv and we didn't get to go on a boat to head down there and see them up close and personal. They were still cool from a distance, and we got to stand right beside them at the railings. The Canadian Falls are much more impressive than the American ones. Tuesday not too much happened, except on one block we met a Jamaican dude, and Arabic person, a white guy, some Chinese, and a few other cultures, all in one block! That was pretty cool. Then I was swapped and went with Elder Lee (A Cantonese guy from Hong Kong, who was originally called to an English speaking mission, and now is switched to English and Mandarin speaking, so he has a lot to learn, but his English is great!) for the night and next day. Wednesday, Elder Lee and I did a lot of walking. A lot. I haven't walked that much in a long time, but we got Shwarma pizza, which was really good! Then we went to this dinner appointment, which we confirmed earlier in the day, but the people forgot somehow, so we got hot dogs from them. These people also have about 6 or 7 kids, which is funny, because Elder Lee hates kids, unless they are the quiet and obedient kind, which half of these kids weren't. Watching Elder Lee was just plain amusing. Then we did a lot more walking and switched back. Thursday didn't go as well, since many of our appointments canceled or didn't show up, except for two. One appointment was with this kid named Jacob, who found the church by himself on the internet one day, and decided to look into it. He's been to church twice now (We only met him last week Sunday), but we've met with him about 4 times last week, and he's just absorbing all that we've been teaching him. He's also been marking and highlighting the Book of Mormon we've given him, and so far, this guy is really close to baptism. It's been great! Then on Friday, I got to go to the Family History Center here and do some organizing and filing, but the guy who works there (non-lds), is a great guy and told me to bring my pedigree chart that I have and we're going to look up some of my family who should be residing in Ontario this Wednesday! So that should be cool. Then we had a few other appointments and then we got to go to a Quincenara (I think that's how it's spelled). It's a Latino girl's birthday party of when she becomes a woman, kind of like a Jewish Barmitzfa (I don't know how to spell that, but you get the idea). That was fun. Then Saturday I went with one of the Zone Leaders for the day. His name is Elder Baenziger, and he's a great guy. We had some meetings that we had to go to, then we did some tracking, and then all of our appointments fell through, so we did more tracking. Fun, huh? Then on Sunday we confirmed Daejaun into the church, so that's the second confirmation I've been a part of. So that pretty much sums up my week. How's everyone else doing? Having a great summer? I've heard that it's been rather wet in The Hat. Anyways, hope to here from you guys soon, and have a great week!
