What's up? How's it going?
I don't have much time this week to write since I'm headed to Niagara Falls today! That should be fun and quite a site to see.
We had a baptism yesterday. That went well. The boy's name is Daejaun, and he's twelve years old. His mom was baptized a few weeks before I got into the field, but I got to teach him all of the lessons. One of our investigators also came to church yesterday! His name is Hildaldo, and he only speaks Spanish, but luckily, we have a family in the ward that speaks Spanish, so we've been meeting Hildaldo with them, and things are going really well. He likes what he hears, and thinks that if what we are telling him is true, then it'll be a great opportunity! One other investigator didn't show up to church yesterday (we don't know why, we haven't contacted her yet), but she's been taking the discussions, and she really likes what she's hearing as well. Unfortunately, she still doesn't get the idea that authority was lost during the Great Apostasy, and she said that she refuses to get baptized again (she's been baptized about 2 or 3 times before), but we'll fix that.
I got to go on travels on Friday and Saturday with Elder Moody (he's a mandarin speaking elder from Utah), and that was really fun. We did however run into this guy who said he's a gay dude, then started making obscene gestures and such, and then got really upset and freaked out on us because we had to go since we had another appointment. That was on Friday. I also met this cool guy named Joe, who's really into all religions and Free Masons. He's currently working on becoming one. He was a neat guy to talk to. Then the rest of our appointments were a little boring for me, since they were all in Chinese, so I couldn't understand anything, but it was still fun. Then on Saturday, after another Chinese appointment, we almost ran into the gay dude and his friend again! We rounded a corner, saw them and quickly ran back before they saw us. It was pretty funny, but then we ran into one of Moody's investigators, and caught him smoking! He kept telling the Chinese Elders that he stopped, but apparently not. Elder Moody is thinking of dropping him, since this isn't the first time it has happened. And the guy wasn't very repentive. Oh well. Then we had some Jamaican food, which was really good, especially the Jerk Chicken. Then Saturday night, we swapped back, and I went back up the mountain with Tingey, and we interviewed Daejaun for his baptism (as mentioned before) and then headed over to the church for hockey. I played goalie again. So all in all, it was a pretty good week. It's still really hot and humid here, but I'm surviving. Anyways, that's all for now, so bye!
