A Very Hot , Humid Week Five in The Mission Field!

Hey, how's it going? It's currently day 18 out in the field for me.

So this past week has been pretty full. I've done and seen a lot and I've been pretty tired. We've walked around a lot and biked and it's been really hot and really humid here. Apparently, we're in the middle of a heat wave right now. Joy. I went on exchanges on Thursday with an Elder named Elder Munk (He's a Zone Leader), and that was really fun, though we ran into this really anti-Mormon dude telling us exactly why our religion is wrong, but he couldn't back up any of his claims with proof or scripture, even though he said that there was scripture in the New Testament that proved it. Unfortunately, Elder Munk was off making some phone calls, so I had to deal with this guy all alone. Finally, he was making no sense, so we just ditched. When I got back to my apartment, turns out the Elder who took my place managed to somehow get my bike wrecked, again, so now I have to fix that, again, when I have the time. Sucks, huh?

On Friday, we had Zone Conference in Stoney Creek and got to meet the new mission president. He's a really awesome guy and his wife is really cool too! His wife is the daughter of Elder Ballard, so chances are, he's going to be making a lot more trips up here. The Conference went really well, and they talked about a lot of major changes that are going down in the mission fields everywhere. (These changes are from Salt Lake). Then on Saturday, we were really busy just going from meeting to meeting. We picked up some new investigators (One who only speaks Spanish), visited some members and then had this HUGE discussion with a recent convert because she's been going through a really tough time. We've been helping her out a lot. Then she didn't think her son was ready for baptism and a bunch of other things so we had to cancel and things just got chaotic and stressful. Then at the end of the day, she decided to let us baptize her son. But with all that was going on and we didn't want to be inconsiderate to a bunch of people, we just rescheduled it for next Sunday.

Sunday was one of the most busy days we had. First, we had our Sunday morning coordination meeting at 9, then church from 10 to 1. One of our investigators showed up which was great. Then we had to get to a members house for lunch, so we had to chase and wave a bus down, but we made it. That was good, but it was so freakin' hot out. Then after that, we had another appointment across town, so we were able to get a ride over there and teach a lesson to a member and her non-member husband. Then we had another appointment but we got another ride and had dinner with this older couple. Then they gave us a ride back to our apartment so we could pick up an investigator for a fireside that we had that night. We picked her up and went back to the church. It was really squishy in the back with five of us in a convertible! We got to the fireside and Elder Zwick (Of the Seventy) came to talk. It was pretty good. We managed to make it home around 9:30 pm and that was our day and week.

All-in-all, it's been pretty good out here, but I still miss home. Anyways, life is good, and you guys should write or email!

Have a good week!

Elder Stubbs
